Just found this link on a Volvo XC forum. It doesn't have any Land Rovers in it but is an interesting watch and makes you think about how a 4WD system with electronic aids (traction control) works. Old cars are used which may have faults so it doesn't imply that any are better than others. However in my thinking a Freelander should pass all tests, some other older Land Rover models would not...

AWD test on rollers: V70, XC90, VW Golf, Maverick, Montero sport, Land Cruiser, Lexus GX470, LX470 - YouTube

Wonder if anyone on here's got a set they could test the freebie with

I've had a look on e-bay but can't find anyone selling them. Just had a look on the video and although substantial - they look a bit "home-made" to me.

I don't think it would be too difficult or expensive to make some (but time consuming) from a quantity of angle iron and/or box. You would maybe want some 6" steel pipe for the rollers and make some end pieces to attach them to a 25mm go-kart axle which you can get dirt cheap and also the bearings /hangers.

If I had the time I would be at it in the garage now..........

All of those tests could be passed by a competent driver .. that doesn't mean just flooring it either, though some traction systems prefer that method! I guess a lot depends on how and why the wheels aren't turning, or are!!

I reckon my 90 (without locking axle diffs) would pass all the tests using left foot, cadence style, braking .. I use it a lot on steep slippery uphills .. ;)
