Hi guys,
I'm seriously considering ordering terrafirma shocks TF116 and TF 117 for my defender td5 130. the car has not been lifted whatsoever. will these two shocks be approprite for the pickup or will they give a lift?

Shock absorbers don't give a lift. But they can give more suspension travel.
The ones you've listed appear to be standard length so the above doesn't apply anyway.

Would they be appropriate. Yes they should be fine. One thing to note is that they're listed for the 90/110 and not the 130 so it maybe worth contacting them first.
I have looked at them myself and may be buying some for my project but I'm still undecided at the mo.

Got terrafirma extended ones on me motor, been fine in the 2/3 years Ive had them on
Gas shocks can give a slight lift, but my experience of gas shocks is dont bother!

Great, did not want to buy shocks and after that discover that I have to buy more things to compensate for the sudden lift. I read on some forums that the end of the front shocks would sit on the axle.
Anyone have experience with that?

Yes, Seen it a few times. If it happens you could just cut 10mm the bottom.

thanks, hopes it works out since i'm living in South America; once ordered you don't go back on the order and thus would mean being stuck with the wrong shocks

Hi guys,
shocks arrived and fitted to pickup, but when coming back from the field I noticed that one of the rear springs has dislocated. is this due to the shocks and how can I put that back in place.

high lift jack genuine or jackall as cheap chinese farm jacks are lethal-:jack with lr adapter in crossmember and pop it in with broom handle

use one purson to operate highlift and keep it from tipping- use broom handle with axle hanging to guide spring in.

look at qt reverse dislocation cones.

have same issue on mine

Yeah, I have a cheap chinese one and it managed to drop my chassis on my hand, it is now a nice shade of green. Once this project is done it is going in the scrap.

thanks for the replies and suggestions guys, was thinking of bringing it to the dealer to have it sorted but first tried it myself with 2 crow bars and a good hammer; and managed to get them back in place. they were partially dislocated, the outer spring just outside the retaining lip.

To stop mine popping out (I have standard length Terrafirma shocks and standard height LR springs) I put two jubilee clips at the top of each spring around it and its mount. Never had a problem since and that was 3 years ago. Cheap solution!

The other alternative is a dislocation cone to guide it back into place, but I certainly don't think you need them. The jubilee clips are a much quicker, cheaper and in our case more practical solution.

hi D90mitch,
would definitely like to try the jubilee clips since I don't have time (and money) to order dislocation cones, have 2 hefty trips ahead of me in the comings months with very challenging road conditions! I will contact you again if I encounter any problems regarding the clips

Hi, d90mitch,
was thinking about the jubileeclips for the springs but mine pickup which is a hcpu 130 has an outer and inner spring at the rear. would the jubilee clips still work and how do I attach them?; do you have the same situation?
