I'm sure some of you will know about this, but for those who don't it might just get you home on a dark night! This morning my headlights wouldn't come on, though the sidelights & rears were on. The lights came on when I unplugged the switch and shorted the terminals on the loom plug with a length of wire, so the problem appears to be a faulty switch. I turned the switch plug round the wrong way, so that the brown wire goes to brown and the red to blue (if you see what I mean!). Now the headlights work, although you can't switch on the sidelights alone.
It's a 1990 Defender, the switch with 3 connectors (brown, red & blue wires) and one "blank" plastic connector.
