Right...
I have just sourced meself a 300TDi disco of which i am going to pillage engine
I have done a bit of reading up already, but have a couple of questions left.
Mainly...
When its in, will I have to replace the entire exhaust system, or can i modify and use my 12J NA exhaust, or will it be too restrictive?

If so, will a standard Defender 300tdi exhuast fit, or will i need to shorten it?

I am mating it to my current LT77 'box, with the short bellhousing, but I'm not sure if this will shove the 300 back, i read somewhere on the 'net that it sits in the same place in disco and deepender, does anyone know?

What bore is the 300 exhaust?

Thanks!

I think you need a proppa 300 eggsauce. Int the NA one 'thinner'? I've got a 300tdi stuck in my 86' Deepender. Got messel a 300tdi eggsauce and it took a bit of jiggling to make it fit. But it DID fit! Main problem I had was the down pipe from the manifold. The pipe was slightly too long and hit the front cross member. But we got a trolley jack under the cross member and made it fit..! It won't fall off like me old one did thats for sure..

OK, i think then i will run it with the NA exhuast just to get it back on the road until I can afford a proper exhaust, or one comes up cheap. Will i damage anything like that, like the turbo or something, cos of too much back pressure?

you could probably chop some of the disco eggs up and make use of it but unless you get rid of all the n/a eggs you'll still have a restriction at some point - a full egghaust system is a lot cheaper than a new turbo

I got my 300tdi eggsauce for £30. I cun PM you the blokes number if you like. He gets quite a few bits like that in.

That would be excellent HB! :D
Also, does anyone know if i can get/what length/where from a serpantine belt to replcae the one on the 300 tdi that DOESN'T drive the power steering pump?
Cos i don't really want power steering, cos i have a new manual steering box and kinda like it.

Reet. I'll dig out the blokes number and PM yer it. He mite know about yer belt too. He's pretty good.

i mite need a fuel gauge sender....il have a word with my mate 2moro and see what it is i need but i know the fuel gauge doesnt work on my mums 300 tdi disco !

did u ever get those turret rings?

Yeah i did! Thank you very much, i thought i had posted it in here somewhere, maybe not.
They arrived, it was my Uni halls postal service being useless, again.

Fitted them a few weeks back, believe it or not the studs in them were different threads, one was the same as what was on it, the other was metric.

Dnt matter though, found some nuts, thanks again!

If you, or anyone else needs some disco bits let me know. The 'box aint really worth having, and i think the diffs and alloys and engine etc are already taken.
