Tis amazin - for anyone teetering on the thought of whether to go for a tdi transplant to replace a td, let me try and persuade you...
other than being way more fun to drive,...
For the amount of diesel (mix) i used to have to put in to get 200 miles (40 litres, almost invariably exactly) i now get 300 miles.
That means my annual mileage of 18,000 miles now costs the same as 12,000 would have with the old td engine. I get 6000 miles "for free"!
Put another way, at todays fuel costs of 1.20 a litre of diesel (if i were using it neat), i would have used 3600 litres (£4320) to do what will now take me 2400 litres (£2880) which means i'll pay for the conversion - and a half- in a year!
Just thought that was interesting, and most pleasing!
