Classic Tdi fuel sender unit, which is flow and return?

Might seem a daft question but want to double check which is flow and return without going to the hassle of removing sender from tank. On the attached photo I'm presuming the pipe on the left, with the arrow and which leads to the rubber hose, is the flow and the pipe on the right with the plastic pipe down to the base of the unit is the return? Can't see an arrow on mine but sure it's the same unit.

Thank you, just wanted to be sure. Think my lift pump is the problem so fitting a new one this afternoon.
