Hi Hopefully I can get some help!

So this morning Iv gone to fire up the Landy to go to work and she’s totally dead... my cheap battery charger tells me the battery is fully charged...

Iv had an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser fitted for over a year trouble free and that’s not showing any signs of life either.

This is my first Landy and my first problem in 18months of ownership and I’m not the most mechanically minded, so any pointers as to where to start would’ve be great
She’s a 2006 130 single cab if that’s any help?

Thanks for reading

J

when you say dead, do you mean the battery, have you any instrument light, come on when you turn the key?, as it could be your ignition, start with the basic, check the battery power put a multimeter across it, then there leads,to the battery clean bright and tight

Yeah you need to put a multimeter on your battery. Your charger wont give you anything useful in terms of how many volts its holding. Anything under 12.4 and you will be potentially struggling. Low voltage can mess things about on td5s, so you need a good strong battery.
Aftermarket immobiliser sounds like a first port of call for draining the battery, if indeed it is ropey.

Thanks for replies.
I took apart the steering column fiddled with wires and she fired up and it’s good again this morning.
However I think I have a corroded/loose wire around 10as as when I was fiddling around, the interior light was flicking on and off and there was a grainy electrical noise coming from down by the as10...
My interior light is now on permanently???

Iv read a load of threads on the subject and bought a multimeter but need to get the lower dash off to access the wires
