Disco 11 ('99) TD5
Major leak of coolant from somewhere, either pump or something closeby.
Anyone know if there is a pipe that could have split, or worn through in that position. Nothing obvious, but hell of a job to see as it's all tucked away, been under with a torch, but hard to locate.
Are the water pumps on the TD5 well known to fail?
Any feedback appreciated as looking to do a DIY fix in situ (afraid to run it to the garage as may cook engine and then I'll be in worse s**t!)
Thanks

i needed a new one on mt td5 not to hard to change but you need to remove the centrifugal oil filter housing also have a good look at the top hose as it drops down to the bottom of the engine as it rubs on the power steering pipe

Thanks for that Martin. On top of the water pump sits what I think must be the air con pump, or is it the power steering? (I think you can tell I've not been under a Disco's bonnet much!) either way it looks as this unit will have to come out to gain access, is this right? and the drive belt and all?

All the "work" is done under / behind the aircon + power steering pump etc, infact the water pump is driven directly behind the power steering pump.

You "can" do it without removing much at all, but its VERY fiddly, if your not that confident and don't have a "good" selection of tools, I would recommend removing the centrifugal oil housing to give more space, or entrust the job to someone else.
