Hi all,

I hope I've posted this in the right section.

Can anyone please shed any light on whether I can bolt TDCI A Frame arms on to my defender 90 TD5 chassis?

I managed to damage one of the arms removing the top bush, don't ask, and a local breakers has a pair of TDCI arms which look like they'll bolt straight in.

Thanks in advance for any pointers :)

Jonny

Don't know about a TD5 but I can tell you that they won't fit an early model 90 (1986).

I bought a 2-year old v.low mileage rear axle from a TDCi 90 that was used by LR at Gaydon and as it came with the A-frame I thought that I would fit that as well but I discovered that the bush has different diameter bolts so I had to re-fit the old arms. Was going to find out if the arm was different or if it was just the bush but haven't got around to it yet.

Thank you that's very helpful :)

I hope then that it's as easy as pressing some new td5 bushes into tdci arms, I will not be using a reciprocating saw this time....

If anyone knows if the arms are different please let me know.

I did some research into this and came to the conclusion it is just the bush sizes. I bought a TDCI galvanised chassis with 300TDI engine mounts, the upper trailing arm lugs are welded to the chassis rather than bolted on like the earlier chassis so I wasn't sure if the arms from my 300TDI would fit. I haven't started putting it all together yet so I might still be wrong but I'm 99% sure I won't have any problems.
