TD5 turbo oil return pipe gasket?

Hi All,

I have the turbo return pipe off as it is leaking at the turbo end. Is there a gasket? I think I can see a black looking substance on the underside of the turbo using a mirror? Does this need cleaning off or should I just use instant gasket? Thanks
