TD5 Temp Gauge

I’d like to change my coolant temperature gauge for one that shows the real temperature on my Defender, I thought I’d seen something about this online somewhere but can’t now.

Where is the best place to install the sender?

If you replace the gauge with another (VDO etc) then you need to fit the matching sender for it to read correctly The obvious place to fit the sender is where the original is as the wiring is there already!

I thought about that but then though the ecu might still want to know what that coolant temp is

fit something like this in top radiator hose and have both temperature gauges.

Looks good, definitely need to keep the existing one for the ECU

Is it a single sensor that does both the gauge and the ECU on the TD5? Most (non LR) systems I've played with use separate sensors for each job

Yes what I want to do is have the original sensor for the ecu, and another sensor for the gauge so I’ve got a proper gauge
