Right chaps, I know this has been done before.

In the next few months I may have a windfall comming my way;)

At the moment I have a 110 with a 2.5 petrol in it, I go to MV shows all over the country in it, but don't use it as often as I would like because of fuel costs.

Ive been looking at getting another 110 with a TDi, but have seen TD5's for about the same money I want to spend(£5000)
Has anybody had both? What was the TD5 like to drive and maintain?
I know the TD5 suffers from problems with oil in the ECU wiring, which seems pretty simple to repair. Any other pitfalls?

cheers

Loads of info if you try a search on here and google.
In a nutshell tdi and td5 both good engines if serviced.
Tdi cheap as chips to fix even when it blows big time, td5 the complete opposite.
All the problems/fixes are well known.

There are a couple of examples on here of people doing major rebuilds on TD5 engines. Bennehboy and Markomate as I remember. Having said that, they do seem to be good for hundreds of thousands of miles in many cases. As well as oil in the injector loom there can be faults with wiring loom and ECU itself which may be difficult to diagnose and expensive to fix. Having said all that, I'd still rather have a TD5 for travelling the length and breadth of the country.
