My TD5 started instantly when I first bought her. She’s developed a habit of starting on first turn of the key but dying immediately. It’s starting to take several attempts to get her going. Once she’s running all seems fine and I’ve not noticed any loss of power etc. Any ideas where to look first?

Battery is fine. Cranks rapidly and starts immediately but then the engine dies.

Vehicle was bought as a private sale a month ago.

The huge list of major defects my local Landrover specialist found against a “no advisories’ perfect MOT” (yes I know there are no guarantees with an MOT etc) is another story. I crawled over the chassis but didn’t find the holes they encouraged with their hammer. (My poking with a screw driver wasn’t firm enough?)

Sounds like air getting in fuel system when sat for some time.Once running if you stop it and then after Two mins try starting again does it keep going?
