I'd be very interested in other people's ideas on my quandary.

I have 2 Discovery Td5 s a 2003 and a 2004. Now the 2003 has very terminal chassis rust but a better engine than the 2004.

So what I'd like to open for discussion: do I replace the chassis at it seems a cost of about £3, 000, or swop the engines. It would seem to me that a chassis replacement would have to be for a galvanised one.

Do you chaps feel that a TD5 Discovery with a galvanised chassis would be that much more salable or a long term keep.

Another side issue is that the 03 model is a 7 seat that has been put on springs, should I put it back on air?

Last point: can anyone recommend a supplier and fitter of a galvanized chassis, convenient to South Wales/Oxford.

If it is just the rear of the chassis that is rusty the rear spars only can be cut of and replaced at a much lower cost than a complete chassis.

Thanks both for your input. Classikfan, sadly the chassis has also gone further forward as well. I thought it was just the rear section until l had it up on a lift.

Only you know what the vehicle is worth to you.
My opinion is that a galv chassis is the way forward, and will make the vehicle last a LONG time. If you are going to invest in the vehicle in this way, I would also advise you get an agreed value insurance policy.......( I am sure you can guess why )

When I have paid mine off (2.5 years left on HP) I am considering AMC head and galv chassis if required.
