Hi guys,

My td5 has been running well until today, all was well until I was at the bottom of a hill as I applied a bit more throttle I noticed that the engine suddenly started to feel a little rough and down on power. There was no warning lights only what I could feel through the car. Only last week I treated myself to a Nanocom evolution, I plugged it in and it is coming up with fault code 27, 3 Injector 3 Peak Charge Long - Does anyone have any idea where I should start looking?
I have taken off the red plug on the ECU, there was some oil on it so I gave it a good clean, put it back in, cleared the fault started the car but the fault and fault code come back after about 5-10 seconds running.

Should also say the engine isn't cutting out, just running rough!

Cheers in advance

Have read about this before, iirc it seems to be the injector harness will need changing.

I am sure others will be along shortly.

Cheers

Rough running on a Td5 is often attributed to oil in the ECU connector. The red plug is where the injectors are connected to the ECU, and since you found some oil in there it would be indicitive of a faulty injector loom, so your Nanocom throwing up an injector fault is quite feasible.
You say you cleaned the red plug and put it back, but the oil can take a couple of goes for it to drain out, and it can also find its way into the ECU itself.
In the first instance, I would advise checking for oil contamination in the ECU itself in addition to giving the loom and red plug time to drain out a bit.
I'd also advise that you change the injector loom, the trouble is only going to continue if you don't.

Thats for the quick replies, I will get a new harness tomorrow and see if that solves the problem. Am i right in thinking that all the seals come with the harness it self? I will get a new rocker cover gasket as well.

I don't know about "all the seals", but I would advise that if you're going to lift the rocker cover then you obtain a new gasket seal for it and I would also consider replacing the little rubber seals from around each bolt. I believe that RTV sealant (or similar) is required for the half-moon at the back of the engine.
There's a good "how to" on this website: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Injector_harness.html

Nelly & Brian - Thank you both for your accurate advice. I changed the injector loom, also put a new rocker gasket on while I was there. Cleared the fault and seems to be running as normal now. Once again thanks for your advice on where to start.
