Has anyone on here fitted forward facing rear seats to there defender?, I know there is various kits on the market but I am thinking about fitting a couple of standard bucket type seats from the front a perfomance car.

Any advice, pros and cons and pics most welcome:) Khan done a lovely conversion which used the whole width rear compartment with what appears to be enough space between seats to fit through.

cheers

Paddy.

58 Views and no replys:( Someone must have done this conversion and have wisdom to share:)

If not, I will post a how to guide when im finished.

My old NAS spec '94 90 had a rear bench that fit between the wheel boxes. It was hard to get into. Very hard particularly when carrying gear.

I believe there are some other options as well (exmoor lock-n-stows, puma folding, come to mind). Most would say do a search. :)

Cheers Jabber, I have my seats and seatbelts, I know what fixings I am needing and I have a mind map of the custom bracket construction i need to make to fix the seats in, the plan is to use the space on top of wheel arch with a slight overhang on the forward facing seats, this should give enough space in the centre to pass between the seats.

when im finished i will post up the how to guide (if it works well)

I have seen pics of what you are describing on this forum so your answers here somewhere.

I've just bought a late td5, it had forward facing fold up seats fitted by the previous owner but I had them taken out, they didn't leave much room in the back when folded up, I just preferred the space above the wheel arches, they were good ones though. Give Nene a shout, they'd probably do them at a good price.

Thanks for the replys everyone, Wolf im sure everthing has been covered at some point we should just shut the forum down now and search old post.
