hi all my friend has a 2002 td5 and we went off roading sunday he came home put it on the drive with no problems all day
he came out of the house about 1 hour later and could ear the fuel pump running so went to the car and the dash was lit up
so he then started it and then turned it off hoping that may stop it but when he did turn it off the engine was still running
so hes took the earth of the batt and that killed it but when he puts it back on the dash lights up start it and it wont turn off
now we know it an electric problem but what lol
anyone else had this problem

cheers

When you say its starts up do you mean it turns the starter motor and fires it up? Its not unknown for them to continue running after you turn the key off if they are really hot but to keep doing stuff when you connect it up is a um "slight" electrical problem.

Its all controlled via the ECU, the key signals the lot (well for the engine) goes via the ECU - so I think it will be ECU related.

I have heard that water getting into the clutch or brake master cylinder cable junction - it's the cable joint just away from the master cylinders. Just disconnect and spray with WD40. Can't remember which has the cable sticking out of it and it's dark, wet and miserable out there so not going out to look - sorry!! This can cause current feedback, I am told.

Had the fuel pump come back to life and dash lights light up with me too.
