Td5 oil pump bolt

Hi I am new to the forum so hope I have set this thread up okay. I have a 2000 lhd discovery td5 and just had the bolt come lose on oil pump,oil light came on, not good, I have had it ten years and I bought it from the local land rover dealer here in France and I asked at the time about the pump bolt and was told that it had been done, but this is dealer that sold me a car with different number plates on the front to the back so should have not been so trusting? any-way I do not think I can do much now, Maybe take a New range rover for a test drive and leave the old oil pump on the nice new white carpet, but I getting away from the point I have bought a second hand oil pump and new bolt and gasket, but have read that the new bolts are not great and to use lock-tight, I think I might try the new bolt, but also use lock-tight on it as well, I am not a expert on is or anything so it would be good to get other peoples ideas on this, then I just have to hope that the lack of oil has not done to much damage

Sorry to hear the bad news. I am planning to do mine, although it is a later model.
I was going to use the proper bolt , which does have a thread lock already on it, plus I may add a bit more for fun. Make sure the bolt hole is very clean before reassembling. I was going to use this guide.

I think that you are right the new proper bolt and extra thread lock must be the best way, I think my engine mountings must be tired as I needed to jack up the engine /gearbox to get sump out from between axle and gearbox, needed about an extra 10mm but will look at that if engine runs okay, thanks for your reply I will let everyone know how it goes

Hi finally got second hand oil pump and fitted it today, all went well until I started the car and it sounds horrible I think I have a major problem there is a big knocking sound, like it is being hit with a hammer on every revolution of the motor I am not very good with engines, so think it is not a good idea to start trying to change components hoping to find the fault only to find there are more problems. I think a engine swap is the best idea, I should go for a re-con but do not want to spend 4k plus cost of getting engine to france plus returning old engine, I can get second hand unit for 300 to 1000 on ebay, or I can buy rust td5 complete car for 1000 to 1500 and have lots of spare bits and if it still has short mot I can fly to uk and drive it back (around 700 miles) so should know if motor is good, maybe someone has what I am looking for or a better idea,

Can anyone tell me which number Loctite is the best for the oil pump bolt? I know it should be red, but there are many red ones.

Because the later ones can still fail, there was actually a couple of them , one was a 2004 MY back in Dec '16 Jan '17 iirc.
Plus it is a good opportunity to open the sump and see if anything nasty is lurking

Owners found the bolt had come loose, I checked mine and it was tight so have left it alone.
