hi all,i m new to here so please bear with me,i bought a td5 with engine problems and i m trying (with your help) to sort it out,
the engine starts, but starts to knock, and misfire sounds like a old deisil knock but not sure, defo top end tho, removed rocker cover and started engine, however apart from some oil the timing chain throws out theres no other oil coming into the rocker box,i thought there would be some amount to make the hyraulic lifters work but i might be mistaken, the oil pressure light goes out straight away and the oil and both filters look new,it has had a turbo and fuel pressure valve and pipes fitted recently, thanks for any ideas regards k:confused:

Use an external oil pressure gauge to confirm oil pump is good.
Hydraulic lifters are gallery fed so you will not see the oil. Are theres signs of wear, dragging, or overheating on the cam lobes?
There should be some oil to lubricate the cam lobes and rockers but this mainly comes from the oil thrown up by the timimg chain and directed by the underside of the cam cover along with the oil coming from the cam bearings into the cam carrier space.
