All,
I have recently experienced a drop of oil on the dip stick. I have done about 9k since the last oil chnage, and the oil level hadnt moved until about 7.5K. Previously between other services, i havent had to top up the oil ( it hasnt ever moved). Its a TD5 90 Defender 2002 with 60k on the clock, FSH, well looked after etc.
Its dropped to just under the 1/2 way level between the lower V mark and upper V mark.
I cant see any oil leaks externally on the engine. Its not smoking or running unusually. Checked oil filters etc
I checked the Plug on the front of the engine at the top coming from the head and it had oil in it. I cleaned it, put it back in and removed it again, oilly again.
So my question is could it be possible to lose 1/2 a max-min level on the dip stick through oil leaking down through the harness?
From research, i have noticed people say the ECU is full of oil, Is this under the drivers seat? If not, where should i look to see if its leaked back?
If anyone can think of anything else to check i would be greatful.
