td5 new owner misfire

hi everyone just bought my first td5 defender 90 and it misses and lurches under load at low revs but clears and drives brilliant at high revs at a total loss. pump sounds quite loud but primes and stops after a few minutes as I say drives fine at higher revs drove 200 miles yesterday but put it in first gear on a hill especially when cold and it lurches almost undrivable at low revs ie just lightly touching accelerator. any help greatly appreciated
 
Possibly a faulty maf sensor. They don't always throw up a code or illuminate your engine check light so get it plugged in and check the maf reading. You can buy generic code readers like the proscan that'll give you realtime data for about £30. It'll pay for itself pretty quickly

Generic code readers don't work on td5 as its not OBD2 compatable
