Hi, my maf is gone and im after some advice on replacing it:

Do i fork out for a genuine part or good used genuine one?

Or for perhaps not much more cash, ive seen some remapping companies who would delete the maf and therefore negate the need for a new one.
Any thoughts on preferred route?
Cheers

Depends on what engine you have Eu2 or Eu3, if it's Eu3 better get a genuine one, if it's Eu2 you can get rid of it...I've seen tuners who are mapping out the MAF on Eu3 engines but i can't understand what kind of "hybrid'' management is that cos for Eu3 the MAF is the main factor in the IQ calculation and once removed the fuelling is calculated based on MAP reading like on Eu2... off course that the EGR must be removed for that either way. I'm sure the engine runs both ways but i doubt it's at 100% efficiency

Thanks. It seems worth talking to a tuner to ask them about running an Euro3 without a MAF. I guess its a trade secret but ill see what i can find out. For an extra £135 on top of that MAF, you could get a quality remap.
Will report back on findings.
I unplugged the MAF just now and it was so much better to drive. Im such a chump for not checking it ages ago.....

Your choice but at least fit an EGT gauge just to be on the safe side with such a strange remap. What you expect to find out from somebody who wants your money though? You'll find out that it's perfect and no problems whatsoever ;) ... which might be true cos a Eu3 will happily run with an Eu2 map, vice - versa is more problematic

I have an EGT sensor ready to go whatever i do.
Yes, its a difficult one. If i could drive it with a borrowed functioning MAF and was happy then id just do that. But the remap is a temptation with the potential to save £150 on the MAF and get a better drive.
Thanks for the advice as always

I had to get one from the main dealer, not yet fitted due to bad weather now not using it much at all, so not messing about until Easter.
