Hello,

our 2001 TD5 GS Auto has recently started displaying a strange thing. It drives around town etc absolutely brilliantly and never skips a beat, however, the issue arises when we attempt to either accelerate on a long stretch or uphill.

This morning we were joining the A12 and as my wife accelerated upto 50mph, the Disco lost acceleration momentarily (about a second) and then picked up speed again until it hit 60mph and then did the same, momentarily lost acceleration for literally a second at most. After that it cruises along fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It started about a week ago and seems to be getting worse.

Many Thanks

Disco has now started to do this at lower speeds, e.g. 25mph, but again is intermittent. Checked wiring loom etc for oil, all the usual and absolutely nothing evident. It idles fine and is no more noisy than usual.

Warranty has just expired, however, I telephoned garage and they have agreed to have a look at it. The Land Rover technician hasn't got a clue what could be causing it, so they're going to hook it up to Testbook to see if they can find the cause.

Just thought I'd provide an update on this. After independent land rover technician changed turbo hose, car was better for a few days and then trouble started again. Needless to say the Disco went back - final cause of all this was found to be the accelerator pedal itself due to "fly by wire" controls - I think the solenoid had failed. The Disco has been running perfect since
