TD5 growls a few times after switching off

My Discovery TD5 makes a strange sort of short growling / vibrating noise, a few times, every 5 seconds or so as I'm walking away from the car. Is it normal ? What is it ? Is it something to do with the self levelling suspension ?


Also, my handbrake lever in the car gets hot. Any ideas ?

The noise could be the centrifugal oil filter spinning down.

Check your earth leads - it is not uncommon for the handbrake cable to be the only earth left and then it can actually catch fire.

Wow ... this is amazing. The radio power has been dropping in and out a bit lately. Someone suggested the earth lead, I didn't realise there was a connection between the two problems. Thanks.
