My TD5 makes a single knock when you drive chicanes. For example, going around a roundabout.

Wondered if this could be worn bearings or bushes or the ACE kicking in...

Anyone else with ACE notice this - its only when the car changes its roll from one side to the other???

I've got ACE and I have no knocking at all going around corners. My TD5 has got 170000 on it and I would have thought i'd at least would have something worn out !!! It could be just a worn bush. Have you got a workshop manual that shows the area's you need to look at ???

Thanks Rob, I have a copy of the Rave CD's but not had a detailed look yet. The knock is hardly noticable, however now I have noticed it, it's bugging me. The car has 70k on the clock

Ive just looked at my CD's and there does seem to be a lot of places where Landrover could have fitted a nice little rubber bush that will wear out !!! It's bound to be one of these, and it's bound to be one that you just can't quite get to !! I've got bigger probs with mine. As of Thursday, it started to coolant like it's going out of fashion. Can't see any leaks, so I just know it's the head gasket. Fortunaly, I took a warranty out on it when I bought it, and they say it's covered. As another thought on yours, have you got standard tyres on it ??. I had a 1993 V8 that had bigger tyres on it, and when hitting bumps or heavy cornering, the tyres used to hit the lower radius arm. Check to see if you have any nice shiny area's anywhere. Rob.

Hi had the same knocking on my disco td5 w reg.The first thing I found had worn out was the n/s shocker bottom bush so that got replaced yes you can buy just the bush from LR.But the noise was still there so had a better look and found it was the n/s/f rollbar bush which only cost £2.79 from LR and all is quiet and drives nice.Hope that helps.

Thanks Scotty, When it stops raining i'll have a closer look... looks like it wont get fixed till june then:)

it's not all that bad, just noticable, did you do the work yourself or did you take it to LR to do?, at that price for the parts it maybe just worth doing anyway!

Yes I did all the work myself the shocker bush took about one and a half hours to do and the rollbar bush took 10 minutes. It is only one bolt on either side of the roll bar and it will drop down, and you just unwrap the bush off the bar and then if you get a jack and a block of wood, you just have to clip the front of the mountings into the chassis and jack the rollbar up to help get the mounting over the new bush and bolt it up and job done.It has being the quickest and cheepest repair to date.

Just got under the front and gave the roll bar some waggle, that's definatley the culprit.
Ordered the part - number:RBX101181 (13 in the diagram)
