td5 fuel pump

hi everyone i need to fit a new fuel pump in my 110 td5 defender
is this a job that is quite hard to do yourself. cheers

remove old one,fit new one job done

Job itself is easy, but on the defenders you have to drop the tank unlike the discos which had a flap in the floor. Or do what I've seen some bodgers do and cut a hole in the floor!
Just be careful of the thread it's only plastic so if you cross thread it you knacker the whole tank like someone did to my disco

Just make sure the tanks totally empty, you wouldnt belieave how heavy it feels even with a small amount of fuel in.

Before you lower it to the ground support it on a high box or something and dissconect the fuel lines carefully dont break the fuel line connectors there expensive to replace.

As you can probally guess i did the opposite to everything above and made it a hard expensive job.
