I know an Auto is obviously less economical than a manual. But is it a MASSIVE noticeable difference? If it's only a couple of Mpg I can live with it.

Thanks

It seems to vary wildly! I have a friend with a Td5 auto who regularly gets 35mpg. My manual used to get 30-32mpg before I started modding it. These days with 265s, roofrack and rooftent permanently mounted, I rarely see better than 26 unless on a long motorway run when I can creep up to about 28mpg if I take it steady.

I've heard of autos getting 22-35 and manuals getting the same range, all very confusing. I guess its down to driving style, the road type (city v motorway), and the routes covered (flat and straight v hilly and twisty).

IMHO If you get mid 20s you'll be doing about the realistic average.

My dads Disco 2 gets around 30-33mpg and thats with carrying alot of his tools around too. He used get about 25-28 before I put a bigger intercooler, removed the EGR and fitted a de-cat pipe.

all down to driving style I get 25-to 35 when I am driving it when my better half drives has only got 2 positions on throttle all the way down or off 20 to 25 td5 auto

What worries me is I borrowed my dads modded TDV6 auto last weekend, he averages 24.5 but my best was 18.2 so I'm guessing I'd only get the bottom end of those figures.
