TD5 Facelift Front Bulb Replacement / Upgrade

Hi All,

Just noticed that one of my Dipped Beam Bulbs has blown.

I take it by a quick look you have to remove the Headlight to replace?

If so anyone got any tricks/advice or things I should watch out for?

Also has anyone put uprated bulbs in their lights, either Side, Dipped or Main Beam.

I have a set of the Philips +80% bulbs which I am thinking of fitting or would I be better off just with the Standard ones.

I put white LED sidelights in mine as the bulbs just kept blowing! about £4 from eblag.

not a quickie of a job as you would expect from l/r.

1) open bonnet
2) undo and remove the three screws that hold the grille in place. they are plastic and are on the top edge.
3) remove grille. it has two locating spikes on each of the bottom corners.
4) undo the two screws on the top of the light cluster. not the adjusters.
5) locate and flip open the plastic flap on the inside edge of the lamp unit. locate the third screw and remove.
6) headlight can now be pulled forward.
7) no need to disconnect the main cable, just locate and unscrew the black cap behind the correct bulb.
8) replace and refit all components.

looking at your picture you have a bull bar on across the headlights. not sure how this will affect the light unit removal.

Anyone Upgraded the bulbs in their lights, if so what did you use and did they make much difference.

LOL...

Sounds like you've been on the recieving end of that one BM.!!

Just hope the front "Protection" Bar doesn't make life any more difficult.!!

Why they call it Protection Bar when it's made of rubber is a mystery to me, only thing it will protect is what you hit.!!
