TD5 electrical problems

My 99 defender 90 has gone haywire in the cold. The rear wiper stopped, followed by the indicators and the dash board guages all stopped. The hazard lights work and the dash board lights and clock are OK. The rear wiper motor is a new one less than a month old. The indicators are the main worry. Any clues, or anything commom to all 3 things?

I've got this same problem suddenly on my 2001 TD5 110- although I don't have a rear wiper.

Speedo, gauges, indicators and nearside side lights suddenly stopped working.

Fuses all ok, or seem to be, but not had a multimeter on them yet. On checking, there is some oil in the red plug of the ECU- could this have affected them?
