Not sure if anyone will know the answer to this, but........
Why would a garage, who shall remain nameless, who's done lots of work for a custom car friend, , who does all kinds of remapping believe they can remap my disco, but when they try cannot 'communicate with the ECU', despite their software listing the TD5 as one of its compatible cars. The guy then rang later after trying to find a solution, telling me he would have to remove the ECU & send it away to be remapped? That's not going to happen by the way.
Would it be a 'pc 'language problem' or just that he doesn't have the correct gear, although he professes to have remapped other TD5s?

Thanks for replies, it all makes sense now. Unfortunately I need the car every day so sending ECU away is a non starter. would it be feasible to have a different ECU rechipped or obtain a later ECU?
Just trying to think of options here. I will investigate d2boysclub too though.

mike at dynachip comes out to you and removes the chip then solders in a new programmable one, takes about 1.5Hrs, cost is £250

so what are the benefits of having it done,i want more low down torque etc.

drives a lot nicer, more in gear power, can do 30 in 5th if i want to with big wheels fitted, turbo comes in sooner,
dont think my mpg improved, but dont think its any worse either, there is loads of threads on here about him

sounds just the thing then, will prob get it booked in with him this week sometime.cheers john.;)
ps,not to fussed about the mpg tbh,the mileage i do in the disco is not worth bothering about.
