Hi guys a friend of mine has a 1998 disco td5 which just recently developed a poor idle missfire and underpowered when driving.
My carman scan wouldn't connect so i borrowed a friends autodiagnos and got 5 codes 2 were for air conditioning which is not fitted to the car so i'm not including them. The codes found were as follows:
088 EGR Inlet throttle output down
120 Can Error
130 Injector 2 peak charge to short
I have checked the red plug at the ecu for oil and there was none there was also none at the injector harness connector. When the rocker was removed and the loom removed all of the injector plugs were full of oil. So i cleaned all the oil out and tested again with no difference. Also removed inlet egr valve and cleaned and ensured proper operation. Still no different so i checked the resistance of each injector and all seemed to have the same resistance not sure what the exact figure should be but them all being similar made me think they are all ok as she runs fine on 4 cylinders.
So could this be the injector loom is compromised and just hasn't managed to infect other areas of the looms yet.
Also noticed a dampness at the rear of the head and couldn't decide whether it was diesel or oil so gonna check the fuel regulator for leaks tomorrow.
Any thoughts or help greatly appreciated
