Hi I have just gone to start my 2007 td5 defender 90 and the battery was low as it has been stood for a while. So I jumped it off my lasses car and it started straight up ran for 5 Mins then cut out.i tried to jump it again and the relay under my seat started buzzing also the glow plug light and the head light light came on the dash very faintly the two back indicators are lit up permanently, does anyone have any ideas
Cheers rob

Sounds like the battery has gone duff or a connection very poor somewhere.Battery's do lose charge if left standing for months. Put it on charge from a mains charger.

Check the battery voltage. Fully charged should be 12.7. If 12v or less it will never start. If it was really discharged less than 10v when you jumped it, the alternator could have overloaded and fail. Alternators are not designed to recharge well discharged batteries.

Thanks but I have had the battery on charge all night av just put it back on and it’s doing the same relay buzzing and back indicators lit up

Cheers am going to pull the plug off the alternator and see what happens when I turn on the ignition

My Td5 did the same. Woke up one morning to all lights on after raining. Water had run down into the light relay. I would start with a new relay as they do go duff and stay in closed position.

Thought this might be helpful:
Relay buzzing under seat

Auto electrician report:
Find:
