Hi all, looking for some help if you could.
We have a TD5, 90 was all ok then one day decided not to play ball.
We have send the ECU off thinking that it was the issue, however "no fault found" so the ECU is ok.

When you turn the key and the fuel pump kicks/ plug light kicks in there is nothing at all? also the temp guage is shooting up to the top.

Does anyone have any ideas, i'm at a total loss.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

So you've got the pump priming on ignition position 2 but no cranking at all when you turn the key after glow plug light goes out?

Pop a post in introduce yourself with some pics of your landy mate. Don't ask tech questions there though you've asked this in the right place

I had similar issues and spent 5 days fathering out why it wouldn't start... My issue was ECU....one thing I did learn very quickly was almost every control circuit is +ve supplied and switched to -ve by the modules. As your not getting a turn on the key your investigation should start at the engine immobiliser, on here you should get yourself a PDF copy of the TD5 elec drawings (I used 2002my), on page 24 of the drawings you'll find a signal

your looking for "crank enable" that outputs from the immobiliser and gives a -ve to the start relay. Refer to Page 24 in the TD5 elec drawings (2002my drawings).
This is the place to start your investigation. One thing you'll find is that all modules output a -ve supply, remember this when your using a DVM.

Hi bud, thanks for the reply.

iIv'e spent most of the day with the dash and seats out looking for anything that may be to blame.

Cleaned all earths, checked all fuses, every wire I can see and every connector on the jeep............. no joy!

If the ECU is unplugged the temp guage is goes down, only when it is plugged back in that it shoots up again. It will crank / turnover but I have no fuel pump, glow plug or engine light.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've got no engine, glow plug light or fuel pump on 2nd click, 3rd click will crank as normal

Checked all fuses and connections, cleaned earths.

Having no joy so far! :(

I think there's a part of the loom that passes over the gearbox or transfer case that's prone to chafing on td5s. Only way to check is whip out your transmission tunnel. Not a big job. Unless you've checked here already

Tbh mate when it comes to chasing electrical gremlins I reckon what I know could be written on the back of a stamp :(
