I got a cheap one think it's allmakes4x4 brand and seems ok! Speedo is Abit out as I'm running big tyres so not to worry lol.
Cowaski you temp gauge work out ok???
What brand sender you using?

I couldn't be bothered messing so stuck the original temp sender back in. I have the green sender and TD5 gauge in a box in the garage.

PaulMC on here has all the electrical connectors if anyone needs them. I took a few pictures but if I remember rightly I thought I did a thread......... goes off to look.......

All working ok temp sits just below half and doesn't waver with electrical loads etc

Rev counter is spot on too

Only issue is the common bulbs blown in the speedo, al order 2 and get them replaced

Cos mines a Tdci bulkhead I ran a new wire green/blue from the sender all the way to the plug that leads onto the gauge harness as on Tdci it isn't there it's ecu derived
Other than using a dt deutsch tech 12 pin connection plug (awesome quality) very secure join I found the whole job pretty simple just follow the online info
You gonna be sick of being told by everyone but check every pin is tight in the plugs, check all wires and then again
I would pay particular attention to the temp wires the earths and the wiring behind the dash
What if say you've disturbed a wire unrelated to the instruments when doing the mod
It's all I can think of mate

Any idea what would happen if ran mine from sender straight to the gauge like you've done? Would it not just be the same as yours then?

Only difference is the gauge reads slower and takes a few minutes more to warm up but once warm it sits spot on
Fuel gauge is steady and doesn't seem to waver like the Tdi one did

Yeh that's how mine is. Hmm, will give the gauge it's own earth point and see if it reads correct as that's only thing havnt done..

My td5 gauge harness has all 3 earth wires linked and earthed on the steering column stay bolt
Have you kept the black 3 terminal plugs for each gauge ie are your connections correct on the gauge and not mixed up?

What gauge wire did you use as I'm using some 16awg for the sender wire and all new earths, is it too large to be effecting the reading from the sender or not?

All my new td5 loom earths are to a point under the bonnet that is good, I'm thinking to give the temp gauge it's own new earth?

Mite try a thinner gayge wire somthing same as factory size see if it effects the gauge??? Doubt will do anything..

:retro: you mentioned in the guide the gauge will not read correct if you wired the sender straight to the gauge, have you tried this? Does it read hotter/colder not function at all???
Trying to think if I can purchase a resistor or anything to wire in-line just to nudge the gauge to where it should be and function still?

When i had no engine to chassis Earth the gauge sat in the right place when I had everything on so lights heater etc etc but it did change reading when I switched things off it would drop right down.
Now I've got good earths the gauge doesn't wander about but it's just reading colder (more resistance) why?
I need it so it has less resistance and reads higher..
How can I do this.
Sorry if this is dragging on,
Trying to think out loud and see if can think of somthing..
