tom1979,
No I didn't, but I still have it, I am going to make a coffee table out of it.
The mech who did the job for me did say that he had a damn good look
at it and could not see a crack with the naked eye, but he said that doesn't
mean it's not there, he advised me to get it pressure tested if I wanted
to keep it as a spare, (not required for coffee tables).

When they pressure test them they only test the coolant side

By the way "lightning" I have just read all the thread and I haven't stated what model I have,
sorry to disappoint, it's a Discovery not a Defender.

Thanks tom1979, I guess that that would be pointless then,
a coffee table is looking even better now.

Welders crack detection spray normally shows them up....

You know what tom1979 I will do just that, we have a welder's merchants nearby.
I will get a can, jet wash the head and try the spray, you wouldn't think a tiny crack
would cause all that trouble, mechanical things eh!

The dye they use does come off with some brake cleaner so it won't ruin your coffee table!!!

I normally use the Flawtek kit, comes in three cans a cleaner, penetrant and developer. Always disappointing to use on your own welds!:D

Flawtek, I have made a note, thanks for the tip, I know what you mean
not getting the penetration on the welds, I remember when I was training
and the instructor broke off my weld to show how bad it was. eek!
