Think the clutch on my Discovery may be on the way out.

Done a quick search for prices on the interweb and found a multinational company (not landrover) quoting £500 to replace.

Firstly is this a good price and secondly would it be better to have a Land rover specialist do the job.

I dont have the time to do the job myself, i'm, sure I read somewhere that its easier to remove the engine and replace that way if a DIY job and if so I wouldn't have the tools

Any thoughts

Thats a terrible price, a Company called Mr Clutch quoted me £360 providing i didnt need a new dual mass flywheel. This chain of stores can be found in a fair few places.

In the end i did it myself, and still having a few problems. The whole clutch + flywheel was £360. Its technically not a hard job and other than a socket set and some spanners no real special tools needed. Fairly straight forward to unbolt BUT the whole gearbox and transmission is HEAVY and very difficult to move when you are only working onyour drive way on some ramps.

Good luck.

I would be careful about using Mr Clutch, have read some shocking reviews about them

anything under £400 is ok but if you need a new flywheel then it will cost you another £250+ and you will need one 65% of the time did mine myself on my drive was a real pain took all day silly to say there is a 4 post ramp at work
removed the gear box of my td5 but take the engine out on tdis loads less wires and pipes on a tdi
