TD5 clunk :(

Evening all,

Driving home tonight I noticed a very clear clunk sound when taking my foot off the accelerator. It sounded like something disengaging. Only when going slow and initially. Once the car had warmed up I didn't notice anything.

Figured taking my foot of the gas was the first mistake but was wondering if this is something to worry about or just a 'feature'.

I have had a similar noise, doing pretty much the same. Been there for a few months, but i've had bigger problems trying to get it working.

could be any one of your bushes, what age is your disco. Mine has the same clonk and it is coming from the radius arm bushes which i intens changing soon. If it only happens now and again then you probably have some time before they need changing. If they get worse then the MOT man will be unhappy. have a look and use a pry bar to see if you have any movement on them

mines a 2000 reg and realy needs all the bushes changing. there hot hard to do if you know some one with a press. think how old these bushes are with the weight of car on it
