Anyone know if it's possible to fit td5 chassis onto 200tdi? I can get a new galv td5 chassis for £850, it's £1100 + vat for a 200td chassis. Obviously I can't be doing any welding or fabrication to the new chassis, so would one fit the 200tdi without too much modification? I thinking of just getting a 99/2000 TD5, but then I would still have to buy and fit new offroad gear to it, and if I fitted a new chassis to mine then I would be able to fit a full rollcage and tubular challenge wings and make it into a winch challenge truck:D. I don't want to have my Landy off the road for too long, so if I fit a new chassis then I was thinking of getting a new bulkhead and axles and building a rolling chassis up, that way I could probably swap the body over in a week (maybe!). So do I buy a TD5 chassis? or 200tdi chassis? or just get a tidy TD5? I'm budgeting for about £2500 on a rebuild or same plus whatever I get for my Landy (about £5000 in all) for a TD5.

The engine mounts need to be cut off and 200tdi ones welded on. Also the td5 rear crossmember doesn't have the tabs for bolting the tub on at the back. I've got a td5 chasis here that I'm about to do the very same thing to. If there are any other differences I haven't noticed them yet.

so a galv td5 chassis would be pointless then, as you would'nt want to weld a galv chassis unless I could get some sort of industrial paint to paint the welds. Why would a td5 chassis be so much cheaper than a 200tdi chassis?

Ain't there summit about loosin' points and havin' tae go onto a 'Q' plate or summit?
Get a proper 200tdi chassis and not worry about weldin' or cuttin' stuff;)
In an ideal world yes but my chassis only cost me 700 notes whereas a tdi one would be about 1300 + vat.

It would be seen as not a replacement chassis which could leave to Q plates. The DVLA could pull you up for it and in serious occasions crush. Its worth buying the tdi chassis just to get out of the mess of a td5 one. I was gonna use a td5 one until I bargained with richards and got one for just under a grand.

hmm. think i'll give richards chassis's a ring tomorrow and see what they can do, they're only 10 mins drive from me as well so collecting the chassis won't be any problems. Do their chassis come with the new type centre crossmember? (the flat box type)

If you mean gearbox xmember then I used my old one, just painted it in Hammerite to save on money. But if you mean centre xmember for a 110 then I dont know!
