hi all, need a little help. i got my disco ages ago and has no running faults, but at some point it might have had the gear box out or something but i foun a broken wire that you can see has been trapped in something. it goes to a white plug sensor more or less under the turbo and to the side of the oil filter (screw on) now i thought it looks like the oil pressure switch but there are 2 wires that go to it so i really don't know what its for all the dash lights come on and then go off on start up, and like i say no running faults, any one know what it is? the wire runs over the top of the gear box.
also what are rear camshaft seals like to do, are they push fit like the fronts?
all help welcome, thanks.

There should be two wires going to this. Its the oil pressure sensor. One white, one black. The black one is a dummy and should go up into loom about 10" and stop. I broke mine out of the plug but managed to fix it. Still intend to get one from a breaker at some point and do a proper repair.

ah right thanks pal so its not needed then is it?

Yes it will, but me being an anal **** i like things to work. ****ed off the now as i have a switch bulb out on my air con control unit and i'm fecked if i can get it out to change it. How f--ked in the head is that?

sorry, just re read that and it sounds as if its needed. it isn't. only if you want oil pressure sensor to work

so the black wire just blanks off up the loom somewhere and doesn't actually do anything? think i'll just tidy it away as the oil light works fine.
which switch youtrying to get out, the one on the dash?

No. Its one of the buttons on the control unit that sits below the radio. Very small bulbs that light up each button when headlights are on. Couple of them are out and it bugs me. Rave manual tells me to remove radio and i can get it out that way by but the bugger wont budge. Someone on here suggested gettin to it up through cup holders. Goin to give that a go next.

Remove the cup holder assy (6 screws) poke your fingers into the little holes either side, push the clips towards the centre of the aircon unit and it will pop out.
