Eventually plan on fitting a couple extra gauges to my 110, though thinking about it now Im wondering what to actually fit. Already got a boost gauge and voltmeter and I can see the importance of having them...

The other idea was for an EGT gauge but what do I actually need one for?
Wouldnt mind a rev gauge but they are silly money for a TD5 £200+! Again not sure what I need one for...
Oil pressure? Maybe yes as my 110 is highly tuned and may be worth keeping an eye?
Oil Temp? Bar knowing when its properly warmed up, any other need?

Basically got space for 2 extra gauges it's either 2 or nothing as was going to buy one of the switch pods that fit extra gauges or not!

Also don't want the Madman multi gauge as they have sky rocketed in price!

I would have thunk on a "tuned" TD5 that these 3 would have been a given.

I take it you still have the clock, you can always rip that out and replace with something worthwhile.

Cheers

Nope clocks gone, replaced with boost gauge. Well thats what I've read, but I can't find any reason for them to be fitted? Or what good they will do me if you see what I mean?

IMHO, careful attention to EGT is about the best way of increasing the longevity of a tuned engine - especially an alloy one. It should enable you to see the temp getting "silly", and therefore be able to ease off before damage is done.

Oil pressure is nice as a back up to the light - and if, for example, the light were controlled by some electronic sh*t, then pretty much essential ( I know that the D2 temp gauge is ECU controlled :eek::eek: )

Engine RPM is also important - I pay more attention to my tacho than I do the speedo - I know you said they were daft money - do the likes of Durite not do one ??

IOW, if the oil pressure light is direct, I'd go with RPM and EGT - otherwise Oil pressure and EGT. :)

Cheers! Very informative. EGT & Oil Pressure it is then!

Afaik the TD5s are just a light.

Nope, as the rev gauges for the TD5 Fenders has to be programmed to read the signal coming from the ECU cheapest one is VDO from Croytech at a whopping £188!

Would only really like a rev gauge to see how high itll go haha

I fitted a rev counter to my TD5 a while ago when I did the overdrive. For a dial which is quite expensive, it's not terribly exciting to watch because it doesn't move much. A tickover of about 750 rpm is complemented by a reading of between 1500 and 2500 rpm for most of my driving. By 3000 rpm, it's starting to get noisy. I'm told the maximum power output is at about 3400. The electronics are supposed to limit it to 4850, but that would be very loud indeed. I love my rev counter but it is not as exciting as I thought it would be.

How badly? I've got a de-webbed de-stressed one fitted with washers and copper flashed nuts, so I should be alright...

Mines beyond hope, warped and cracked, got an Allisport one ready to go on, to be fair I've had it for a few months just never got round to fitting it :/

Had to have it recovered to a garage.
