Hi all,

I think the serpentine belt tensioner pulley bearing has gone a bit dry as there's a squeaking noise. I've replaced both idler pulley bearings as it's cheap and easy to do, but I can't see how you get the bearing out of the tensioner. Has anyone done this? Do you have to buy the whole unit?

Only 23 quid for a new tensioner so why bother?
What I find on the hgvs is the tensioner pivot bush tends to wear and this causes the belt to skip and its this that makes the squeaking noise.
Simple check is to look at the tensioner pulley if the shiny bit where the belt runs is wider than the belt itself the bush has worn.

Thanks - I think I would have to drill out three rivets and split the pulley in half. Since I'm not stuck out in the bush I'll just get a new tensioner.

Got to be wrth taking apart just for a look see and some pics for the forum.
Im always amazed how fast the truck ones wear, if they make 100k Im impressed, yet the slightly larger engine will do 600k on the tensioner easily.
