Hi All,
I have 2 discos 300tdi (love it) and a TD5 auto with 95k on the clock, I have had this one 2 months.
It all started well- except the leaky roof!...all was well and I was getting use to the engine noise,
Seamed a little ticky at pull away to 1500rpm then we were away lots of power and smooth gear changes all the way. Put the caravan behind no problem!
Last month things seem to change. I filled up at Asda, then within a day the car began to have issues!
First, keeping constant speed on motorway the engine felt as though it was rough , then we started with acceleration problems during gear changes there would be dead zones- giving a my neck a pounding.. trying to control the response at speeds below 30 interesting.. then one night on the way home.. multiple issues road very bumpy then ABS cuts in..engine warning light on followed by gearbox M & S lights flashing. Engine drops to tick over. No throttle response no drive stop. I switched off the ignition waited for a min then restarted. All lights went off and I continued home!
Driving the machine using the accelerator upto 30 then to avoid lumpy acceleration- use cruise control, engine still suffered at constant speed.
Work done.. looking through the service history noted fuel pump and injector 1 exchanged during full service july 10. Have since change the injector harness. (after fitting no difference) used fuel from BP things seemed to be getting better. Not so rough. last week removed checked fuel filter for water None found removed ECM cleaned connectors. Also cleaned the external connector to the injector harness. Noted the connector to the sensor on inlet manifold seemed wet Not oil. Cleaned and reconnected. Started engine died within 2 seconds. Re- checked all the cables and connectors.
Restarted the engine. WOW.. perrrrrred test drive perfect very smooth .. lasted 2 days!!!!
Cold starts - on the button. Slow acceleration and rough until fully warm then starts to miss at certain rev ranges trying to hold at 70 !!!! misses occasionally and with out warning..
