A bloke I work with informed me, when driving behind me, that when I brake the rear light on one side went out. After a rather frustrating hour or so swapping bulbs and holder about, both rear lights now go out when I brake but the high level top light comes on!

I've now found out that the front side lights also flash briefly when I press the brake.

From searches it sounds like an earth problem, possibly behind the panel in the corner of the tub. Am I correct and should I check this in the daylight tomorrow? Any other causes you knowledgable chaps might know of?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, just check that you have the correct type of bulb in your tail lights.

If you have a single filament bulb, ie a stop lamp, or tail lamp as opposed to the twin filament stop/tail bulb then when you press the brake pedal the the tail lights will not work but will supply power to the light circuit which will make your front sidelights light up.

I imagine you will also see the small sidelight warning light on your dash flash on too.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
