td4

Hate to sound like a fool. but I am!

Can anybody tell me how you tell the difference between a TD4 and the older type diesel engines just by looking at them?

do you need to know what the engine looks like in the car or out if its out of the car and no covers on top the L series has a alley cover and the injectors are at towards the front,the td4 engine is very black on top and plastic top cover and the injectors are towards the back also the L series oil filter is on the bottom and the td4 oil filter is at the front half way up black top 36mm nut 2 undo ok
