Has any one had the pleasure of changing a Freelander TD4 water pump or just the thermostat housing? Searched this forum with no joy.

Appreciate hydro engine mount needs to be removed, rather than lift engine is it possible to jack from beneath?

Is it absolutely necessary to remove the camshaft cover?

Any pointers greatly appreciated, cheers.

Yeap, done it, bit of a bitch but didn't follow procedure in RAVE cd. Seem to remember engine mounts didn't come out, but did release engine from mount(one side only)!
I did mine from underneath - seem to remember jacking engine up to get at one bolt, the lowering engine to get an next bolt etc. Getting pump out and the new one back in took some juggling of engine position, pump orientation!
Don't remember camshaft cover did not come off, seem to remember RAVE suggested removing some turbo pipes - I didn't!!!
Water pump bolts are not a standard hex head, a torx I think.
Took me about 4 hours or so!
Any further questions - I will do best to remember!!!!
Chris.
