I have just purchased a Freelander TD4 03' plate with 136,000 miles. It tends to start first time okay but any times after that during the day it tends to crank and crank and crank and crank and then will eventually fire up, has anyone any thoughts? Could it be lack of petrol? The injectors need replacing? Ideas gratefully received.

Maybe doing 20,000 miles in one hour, 116,000 to 136,000 ;)
This thread is doubling up on your other thread as I'm sure the two are one and the same problem.
You need to get your injectors tested which will show up any fueling problems

I have just purchased two Td4's and sadly for me both of them have a problem!

Blimey, that's a first and intriguing .
As you have just bought them did they have these problems when you got them ?
They both have fueling problems which are fixable just a process of elimination.

I sincerely hope there is a lack of petrol in your Td4 otherwise you have a problem :)

well said that man,it wouldnt help, although when i have had
bother with my 300tdi like post,i stick a few quids worth of petrol
in before topping up with diesel,it seems to clean the injectors &
starts on the button.
regards vinnie.

Sadly no apparent problems hence me purchasing them both but I have a feeling it will be a lengthy and expensive process with them both but am starting with the smaller/cheaper options first and hopefully if I am really lucky the problems will be sorted before my bank account is empty!

might be an idea to see if u can get them plugged into a diagnostic , may give u some fault codes and which direction to go in

have always started with a really good service , wasn't there something about a cam sensor , if it fails to start when hot, that if u put it into the freezer and then try to see if it starts

if ur ever up this way got a hawkeye I'm more than happy to plug in for u , may or may not help but the offer is there
