Yes, Yes - I know its been asked before - but I've searched and can't find anything really recent.

After 8 years and 110K miles my back box has finally cried 'enough'.

It's even been tied up with wire for the last couple of weeks, as a hanger rusted through and there is no thickness of metal left to weld it back onto.

Has anyone any comments on the quality of these ones:

eurocarparts at £59.33
or
carparts4less at £37.27

These are actually the same company who share the same parts data-base but with a different price structure. They offer 20% discount on the dearer site to club/forum members which still makes it £10 more expensive. Very strange. Both offer free delivery.

Local LR dealer doesn't have any in stock but can get one in a couple of days at - wait for it .......£197

Even if a cheapy box only lasts 2 to 3 years it makes more economic sense.

Any suggestions for other suppliers?

Twin outlet pipes or one? Dealer says the genuine LR part on his screen shows 2 pipes, but not having one in stock can't confirm.

Singvogel. ;)

Cut the bugger off, pipe straight through and single exhaust. twins look tacky on a freebie.

Sing. just went with the cheapest for mine and it is smaller than the original and a single outpipe so bonus there. doesn't seem to make any difference to anything mate.

I've just put a 'carparts4less' back box on mine. Bargain. Doddle to fit, half the price of pattern part in local exhaust place (couldn't see any difference )

Hi SV

I personally like the 'twins', if they supplied a bigger single then I'd get that.

I've dealt with these guys before when I had my Rav4. Good delivery, reasonable price, good quality.

If i were to spend 200 on a backbox i would just get a whole stainless exhaust for £220 but £40 sounds very agreeable

it will probably deterierate from the inside before the outside.

mine cost £35 from a local factors :) 18 months ago and still looks ok on the outside, but when i changed the centre section some of the baffles rattled about inside.

I haven't finally decided yet - but I'm thinking of just getting the cheapo one and giving it a couple of coats of aluminium heat-proof paint.S.

They usually rot from the inside out, slosh some old engine oil aroud inside before you fit it.

Has anyone got any comment or opinions on the quality of Bosal exhausts?

I've just found that my local parts factor in Aberdeen stock Bosal brand TD4 back boxes at £25.37 + VAT. Amazingly cheap!

Seems too good to be true - so I'm going to have a look at them tomorrow.

Do all Bosal exhausts have an 'aluminised' coating?

Singvogel.

Kwik **** has just fitted a Bosal on to my TD4 and after 1,000 mls it is fine. It was the service which was crap.
Not sure about the coating but mine is quite shiney?

£93.05 fitted (3 times it was on and off before I was happy) Yes I was very lazy and should have fitted it myself.
Funnily enough, I had contact today from some call center asking how I rated my experience with Kwik Fit last week.....I wasn't very polite.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys.

I bought a Bosal back box today from 'Reid for Speed' motor factors in Aberdeen today for the princely sum of £31.91 including VAT and the U-Bolt clamp.

It is 'aluminised' and seems pretty well made.

I'm well pleased.

Singvogel.

fit one 12 months ago and still looks like it did when I fit it, for £30 or so even if it last 2 to 3 years good value.
