Right, I have a 2006 Td4 with 24000 miles on, fsh too. Over the last 6 months I have been getting a problem with the running of the engine. Between 1750 and 3000rpm the engine starts to vibrate and burble, rather lumpy if that makes sense and kicks out a heavy burnt diesel smell as well as blue smoke sometimes.

When I first noticed this it used to run normally whrn the engine got to temperature but now it does it whilst hot.

I have done the egr and crankcase filter mods (crankcase today so may get rid of blue smoke as filter was soaked with oil). Last week i borrowed a friends universal code reader and that showed a maf sensor fault, this was reset but it still feels the same. I've had the maf out today but you can't tell if there is a problem with it by just looking at it.

not sure if it's going to be the maf so need to hear if anyone else has had similar problems and what the cure was.

Its not run in yet :D I would replace the maf , see if cures it .

To test the MAF don't you just disconnect it and see if that makes a difference? But also, doesn't the MAF only do the low down stuff, up to 2000-2500 rpm?

I unplugged it but not sure if there was any difference, hence the offer to buy yours with the ronbox as I'm hoping the pierburgh maf and box will cure it. If not then I'll do the injector leak off test to see if one of those is faulty.
It's not had a hard life in fact its not been used really. Need to get some mileage on it, hardest thing it's done is tow our caravan 8 times

If it isn't making a difference then it probably needs replacing. Just over a week left up here then I can send it to you. The great thing about the Ronbox is you can switch either on or off.
