My 51 plate TD4 has very heavy steering on manouevering. local dealer suggests replacing the pump, this sounds expensive. Is this a job i can do myself? I believe the pumps differ depending on a/c which I have. Has anyone done one? Any advice welcomed please (where is the pump?!) Thanks all

Been wondering the same. I've managed to get a cheap one, I think they are about £150 normally. On the RAVE CD it says tackle from the top and in haynes they reckon removing wheel arch liner - maybe need to do both. It's not a difficult job I suspect if access was easy. Avoiding spilling any fluid in the alternator also looks to be an area of concern. I'm not sure what a mechanic would charge to change - maybe £100ish.

Thanks , still not sure, sorry to be vague but what's a RAVE CD (as you can tell I'm new to all this)

Thanks have down loaded and find it not so clear as I had hoped , very useful tho' - Thanks - still would be good to hear from anyone that had done one - Cheers
