The lumpy start up happens every time now. Almost like a misfire. After a few seconds it then settles down and idles fine with no issues.

Strange.

It supposedly had the injectors refurbished prior to my ownership.

I've just got my injectors out for a refurb and one thing I read was that the seat in the head that the copper washers mate to MUST be clean and flat, if not they will still give a rough idle etc.

Idle after the first few seconds when cold is nice and smooth. It is just very lumpy/like a misfire for 2-3 seconds. It was fine a few days ago.

Been reading this with interest, my 2003 td4 has similar issues with erratic idle, normally just on cold start up but occasionally happens when warm for a short time when pulling up at junctions. EGR recently cleaned up and all air hoses replaced as they had started to perish but no change. No difference if run with maf disconnected. No problems at all when driving though. Might try fuel pressure sensor loom having read above.

Worth a go. My new recon injectors (you MUST get all 4 balanced together) totally transformed my car. Now it's smooth , no smoke at all and goes like a normal car! Almost...

I used Lynx Diesels in Wokingham, via the post, and I highly recommend them!
